Storyline

People are living their lives remotely from the safety of
their own homes via robotic surrogates -- sexy, physically perfect mechanical representations of themselves. It's an
ideal world where crime, pain, fear and consequences don't exist. When the first murder in years jolts this utopia, FBI
agent Greer discovers a vast conspiracy behind the surrogate phenomenon and must abandon his own surrogate, risking his
life to unravel the mystery

In futuro, gli esseri umani hanno la possibilità di vivere sicuri nelle loro
case comandando dei surrogati ai quali affidano la loro la vita. Il surrogato di un agente di polizia (Bruce Willis),
durante un inseguimento con un umano che ha in mano un'arma molto pericolosa, viene distrutto. Appena distrutto il
surrogato l'agente si sveglia dalla poltrona di isolamento e sviene cadendo al suolo. L'agente si risveglia in ospedale
e si rende conto della vita che stanno facendo gli umani, così si reca a casa del creatore dei surrogati che cerca di
salvare l'umanità uccidendo tutti. Dopo aver iniziato l'operazione il creatore si suicida mettendosi in bocca una
pillola piena di veleno.
